A vida é breve mas a arte é eterna. Eva Parmenter - uma das mais destacadas intérpretes de concertina em Portugal - parte do seu percurso singular para criar um espectáculo onde o tempo possa parar. Um convite para entrar num fole onde o tempo não gira mas constitui a essência de cada tema. Numa tocante simbiose entre voz, concertina e movimento, o palco será o percurso traçado pelos passos da acordeonista. Um equilíbrio que exige uma escuta particular, mas na qual a percepção sonora e sensorial abre asas à expansão e metamorfose do imaginário colectivo. Eva Parmenter - compositora de grande parte da obra apresentada - propõe novos caminhos na exploração de um instrumento tradicionalmente associado à música popular, numa era em que as fronteiras estilísticas se vão diluindo e tornando cada vez mais porosas. Desde sempre transporta uma insaciável sede pela viagem, numa eterna busca por músicos e músicas das mais diversas proveniências, fluindo nesta saudável inquietação que vai desenhando a matriz da sua identidade musical. Num instante suspenso onde o fole é o maestro da respiração do público, uma viagem sonora que dilui fronteiras estéticas, geográficas e temporais:música do nosso mundo, do passado, do presente e do futuro.

Life is brief but art is eternal. Eva Parmenter – one of the most renowned concertina players in Portugal – embarks on her singular journey to create a show that can halt time. An invitation into the bellows, where time stops spinning to form the essence of each theme. In a touching symbiosis between voice, concertina and movement, the stage will be the path traced by the accordionist’s steps. An equilibrium that demands careful listening, but in which sound and sensory perception open their wings to the expansion and metamorphosis of the collective imagination. Eva Parmenter – the composer of most of the work presented – suggests new paths in the exploration of an instrument traditionally associated with popular music, in an era when stylistic boundaries are being diluted and becoming increasingly porous. She has always had an insatiable thirst for travel, in her eternal search for musicians and music from the most diverse origins, flowing in a healthy restlessness that marks the source of her musical identity. In a suspended moment in which the bellows are the conductor of the audience’s breathing, a journey of sound that dissolves aesthetic, geographic and temporal boundaries: the music of our world, of the past, present and future.

Eva Parmenter desenvolve a actividade profissional de músico e lecciona concertina assim como danças tradicionais europeias. Toca com o duo Parapente700, Caravana, Tugoslavic Orkestar, Vagaço Colectivo, Trio Ronen - De La Fuente - Parmenter, Baile das Histórias e a Solo. Com estas formações tem participado em inúmeros festivais de música e dança assim como em concertos isolados em Espanha, França, Bélgica, Holanda, Portugal, Alemanha, Reino Unido, Itália, Suíça, Suécia, Eslovénia, Hungria, China e Brasil. Na viagem e travessia de várias culturas, são contínuos os intercâmbios e colaborações com artistas estrangeiros. Mantendo sempre as suas raízes em Portugal desenvolve uma linguagem própria onde as suas composições vão também beber à sua Lisboa eclética, mergulhando nas influências que traz: do Jazz à Música das Ex-colónias africanas, passando pela Música Brasileira assim como os Ritmos da América do Sul ou a dita “Musica do Mundo”. A musicalidade de Eva Parmenter é estimulada desde o berço pelo seus pais de uma forma tão lúdica quanto apaixonada. Aos 7 anos conhece o festival Andanças (música e dança tradicional do mundo), que passa a ser a sua segunda casa e aí nutre-se de várias inspirações tanto musicais como de dança, que serão uma forte influência no seu percurso até aos dias de hoje. A sua aprendizagem musical a nível académico passa pelo piano e cravo, e a nível autodidacta pelas flautas de bisel e flauta transversal. Começa a tocar concertina em 2006 tendo participado em múltiplas formações com alguns dos mais destacados professores deste instrumento tais como Norbert Pignol, Stéphane Milleret, Kepa Junkera, Artur Fernandes, Simone Bottasso. Formou-se também com Ross Daly, Kostas Anastasiadis, Gretchen Parlato, Rebecca Martin, Becca Stevens.

Eva Parmenter is a professional musician and teaches concertina as well as traditional European dance. She plays with the Parapente700 duo, Caravana, Tugoslavic Orkestar, Vagaço Colectivo, Trio Ronen - De La Fuente - Parmenter, Baile das Histórias and Solo. With these groups she has taken part in countless music and dance festivals, as well as isolated concerts in Spain, France, Belgium, Holland, Portugal, Germany, United Kingdom, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden, Slovenia, Hungary, China and Brazil. Travelling through and crossing different cultures provides her with continual opportunities for exchanges and collaborations with foreign artists. Always rooted in Portugal, she develops her own language in which her compositions also absorb her eclectic Lisbon, plunging into its myriad influences: from jazz to music from the former African colonies, taking in Brazilian music and the rhythms of South America and World Music. Eva Parmenter's development as a musician began in infancy, when her parents offered playful but passionate encouragement. At the age of 7, she had her first experience of the Andanças festival (traditional music and dances of the world), which would become her second home and where she would drink in a diverse range of musical and dance inspirations that would go on to influence her career to the present day. Her musical education included instruction in piano and harpsichord, and she taught herself recorder and transverse flute. She began to play the concertina in 2006, having participated in multiple formations with some of the most renowned teachers of this instrument, including Norbert Pignol, Stéphane Milleret, Kepa Junkera, Artur Fernandes and Simone Bottasso. She also trained with Ross Daly, Kostas Anastasiadis, Gretchen Parlato, Rebecca Martin and Becca Stevens.
