As origens da música clássica turca remontam ao Império Otomano, onde os músicos da corte aperfeiçoaram o sistema makam — uma estrutura complexa de modos melódicos que orienta a composição e a improvisação. Esta tradição absorveu influências das músicas persa, árabe e bizantina, formando um repertório sofisticado, executado em palácios e mosteiros sufis. Paralelamente, a música popular da Anatólia, muitas vezes ligada à vida rural e à tradição oral, floresceu com variações regionais, expressando temas de amor, natureza e anseio espiritual.

Sibel Durgut é uma cantora e multi-instrumentista com formação clássica, sendo a única mulher tocadora de kaval (uma flauta tradicional turca) na cena musical internacional. Com uma ligação profunda às tradições musicais da Anatólia e do Médio Oriente, combina a profundidade emocional da sua herança com um som contemporâneo e audaz.
A sua jornada musical começou na Turquia, onde se afirmou como uma vocalista poderosa, actuando em alguns dos espaços mais respeitados da música ao vivo do país. Com o tempo, desenvolveu um estilo próprio, fundindo o espírito cru da música folclórica com elementos de rock psicadélico e paisagens sonoras electrónicas.

Sibel Durgut is a classically trained singer, multi-instrumentalist, and the only female kaval (a traditional Turkish flute) player on the international music scene. With a deep-rooted connection to Anatolian and Middle Eastern musical traditions, she blends the emotional depth of her heritage with a bold, contemporary sound.
Her musical journey began in Turkey, where she established herself as a powerful vocalist, performing in some of the country’s most respected live music venues. Over time, she developed a distinctive style—fusing the raw spirit of folk music with elements of psychedelic rock and electronic soundscapes.
Now based in Lisbon, Sibel is an active member of Al-Qasar (Glitterbeat Records/Wewantsounds), an international psychedelic rock collective that combines North African trance rhythms, Middle Eastern grooves, and Western psychedelia. With the group, she has toured extensively across Australia, Uzbekistan, Tunisia, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Slovenia, and Portugal—appearing at major festivals including Sziget and WOMAD. Her vocals feature on their latest release, Uncovered, with airplay across international platforms such as BBC 3, KEXP, KCRW, RAI, France Inter, and Antena 3.
Sibel is also one half of the ongoing duo project Sibel & Gulami, which reimagines Anatolian and Middle Eastern classical music through the interplay of voice, kaval, saz, and oud. Gülami Yeşildal é um multi-instrumentista e compositor nascido na Turquia, actualmente radicado em Lisboa, Portugal. Com uma sólida formação nas tradições musicais clássicas e populares da Anatólia, Médio Oriente, Balcãs e Sul da Ásia, o seu trabalho entrelaça espiritualidade, improvisação e diálogo cultural. Formado na Holanda e na Índia, traz uma perspectiva global única à sua música, tocando uma ampla variedade de instrumentos tradicionais, incluindo o saz turco, oud, tar iraniano, sarod indiano e percussão.
Ao longo da sua carreira, Gülami tem participado em inúmeros projectos interculturais que reflectem o seu compromisso com a diversidade artística e a colaboração. É membro da Orquestra TODOS, um ensemble lisboeta que junta músicos de comunidades imigrantes para celebrar patrimónios musicais do mundo. Gülami Yeşildal is a Turkish-born multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Lisbon, Portugal. With a deep foundation in classical and folk music traditions from Anatolia, the Middle East, the Balkans, and South Asia, his work weaves together spirituality, improvisation, and cultural dialogue. Educated in the Netherlands and India, he brings a uniquely global perspective to his music, performing on a wide range of traditional instruments including the Turkish Saz, Oud, Iranian Tar, Indian Sarod, and percussion.
Throughout his career, Gülami has been involved in numerous intercultural projects that reflect his commitment to artistic diversity and collaboration. He is a member of Orquestra TODOS, an ensemble in Lisbon that brings together musicians from immigrant communities to celebrate musical heritage from around the world. His versatility and deep musical understanding have also led him to perform with groups such as OPAŽ Balkan Band, known for its dynamic Balkan sound; Trio Üryan, exploring Anatolian mystical music; Dolu, a collective uniting music and movement; Gaida, focused on traditional folk expressions; and Rast Ensemble, which bridges traditional and contemporary Middle Eastern repertoire.
